Steaming Hot Saturday features scorching, smoking, and steaming hot book covers. Click a cover to be brought to it's goodreads page if there currently is one.
I didn't write anything to go along with the gorgeous covers last week but I'd really like to this week. First Truth by Dawn Cook (Kim Harrison) is a recent addition to my ever growing TBR pile. The girl and the bird are stunning, I wish the font and background weren't so blah. It's an older book, part of a completely quartet. Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck is on my wishlist. I love big cats and this cover is so elegant. If you click the cover to go to the goodreads page, you can enter the firstreads giveaway for the book which ends March 6. I don't know anything about When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James but the cover is great, love the colors and how the 'beast' was done. I love historical romance and just the title and the cover make this book really appeal to me.
Blessed by Cynthia Leitich Smith is a new release and it's the third book in a series. I'd never heard of this author until my trip into Borders this week... okay second trip this week when I picked up Unearthly by Cynthia Hand. It's a YA vampire series that I hope to try out sometime soon. I have no clue if Will Work for Prom Dress by Aimee Ferris is something that would interest me but I fell in love with the artwork on this cover. I love the watercolor feel it has. Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale by Ramona Wray is another one from my TBR pile (I wish my library would just accept my TBR list as their 'what to get next month' list instead of just buying NYT bestsellers). This is another that I fell in love with the art. The cat and her outfit/hair are just too adorable.
I love Carrie Vaughn to pieces. I've only read her adult books though (Kitty Norville series). I've gotta say that Kitty got jipped on hot covers because this YA fantasy got a way better one. I hope to read Steel as soon as it's in stores. Every steamy cover post needs it's man candy and I love everything about Eve Silver's Sins of the Soul. The man on the cover isn't the most attractive person ever but the cover makes him mysterious and I love that. And my big cats obsession manifests itself again in the form of The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. This is an older series, obvious, for those of you living under a boulder. I really wish my copy had this cover...
Wooo, okay so Janet Evanovich's Smokin' Seventeen has some words and a number. And it's freakin' beautiful. Or smokin' I suppose. So many covers have terrible fonts, font placement, and colors that this book just makes me want to hug someone. I'm honestly so excited about this cover that I'll probably do a Evanovich giveaway around the book's release (June). I would never ever read Mira Grant's Feed or consider the cover to be any of the things this post claims these covers to be. However, this is one the most effective covers I've seen for conveying plot without clutter. It's also pretty clever.. in a really creepy way. I love macro covers and Bad Taste in Boys by Carrie Harris is such a wonderful example of them. However 9 times out of 10, I will buy a macro cover book simply because it's so stunning and when I read it, it's the saddest thing ever and I end up hating it. ...And keep it anyway because the cover is way too amazing not to.
