I have two significantly younger sibling, both of which still get Scholastic book orders. I was able to get both The Ruins of Gorlan and The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan for only five dollars. I love good deals. These are the first two books in the series. I've been wanting to read these for ages.
I joined paperbackswap.com! It's a lot of fun but some of the wait lists are discouraging. My biggest problem is that I've shipped five books and none of the books on my original wishlist of over 50 books was predicted to be available in the next 30 weeks. So I picked Ravenous by Sharon Ashwood and Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler just so that I would get something. They both look good so I'm happy but I've got the rest of my books on hold so that I won't be sending any more until I receive a few more.
I've been so fortunate lately with giveaways. I received Highland Master by Amanda Scott from Bodice Ripper Novels. It was part of a blog tour and I can't wait to read it. I've been reading quite a bit of highlander romance books from Julie Garwood and I'm hooked on the subgenre. I won a signed(!!!) copy of This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, yayayayay!!1! Thank you so much to Nocturnal Bites. I'll probably do a giveaway with my unsigned copy sometime soon, sorry guys but the signed one stays with me. My puppy recently learned that he's big enough to jump up onto the couch and he's already gotten into trouble for stealing the book from me. What a naughty boy... I also got Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night by Kresley Cole from Paranormal Opinion. I have absolutely no idea why I hadn't read this book years ago. I read the first in the series and her historical romance trilogy a long time ago and loved them. Crazy loved them. So in love with them that I carried them about California's Disney theme park and read them while waiting in lines. Totally unrelated but that was the same theme park that some creepy guy in front of me in line offered to carry me on his shoulders and when I declined he tried to pick me up anyway. I won A Crooked Kind of Perfect by Linda Urban from Michelle Teacress's blog. This is a middle grade book that I would probably have never picked up if it hadn't been featured on a giveaway. It sounds soo good though and the cover is pretty cute.
My last win is Cat Clarke's Entangled. I've been dying to read this book but it's only available in the UK right now so super big thank you to Britta over at I Like These Books for special ordering it for me. The cover of this book is just too freaking amazing, it's even better in person.
I'm diligently working on reading all of these books right now. I've had a huge set back though. I had two really long papers due for my microbiology class then a midterm a few days later. I haven't gotten to read anything but my textbook and confusing experiments for ages. Anyway, I received The Dark City by Catherine Fisher from February's batch of ARCs at librarything. I'm hoping it's as good as the Incareron books. I received Predators of Darkness: Aftermath by Leonard Hilley from the author. I don't read enough science fiction so I'm excited to give this book a spin. I got Cameo the Assassin by Dawn McCullough-White from the author too. Love the cover for this one, it's intriguing and a little creepy. I received The Key by Felicia Rogers from the author. I'm digging these 'eyes' covers, especially with the unusual colors.
I got Seduce Me in Dreams by Jacquelyn Frank from librarything's March batch. I'm not sure how I'm going to read this book when I can't seem to tear my eyes away from the cover. Is it just me or is the cover really similar to Larissa Ione's books? Last up I received Fatal Embrace by Aris Whittier from the author. Hmm, let's see... romance, crime, Montana and horses. Sounds like it will be great!
Phew! That's a lot of books. Hopefully I won't get shanghaied by university work before finals and will be able to devour these soon. Thank you so much to the authors, publishers and bloggers who sent me books.
