In My Mailbox #5

Here's the other automatic post that didn't go up when it should have. Just humor me and pretend it's Monday, please.

The Easter Bunny, good egg that he is, left some books in my basket this year with the stipulation that my mom gets them passed on to her for reading. I received Fever Crumb, which I actually hadn't heard of until then. It's a YA dstopian/steampunk so I'm sure I'll love it though. I also got Incarceron which I've been wanting for ages but never wanted to purchase in hardcover. I got a massive version of A Game of Thrones. It's crazy huge. I absolutely can't wait to read it though. I'm going to have to read it when I have nowhere to go though because I definitely don't want to be toting it around with me when I can't get my nose out of it. Lastly, that very generous bunny gave me A Discovery of Witches, yay! I've been hearing such good things, I can't wait to read it myself.

I got Afterlife from PBS. It's something that I actually would have preferred buying but I'm once again torn by sending out 10+ books and being required to wait 32 weeks to receive just one from my real wish list.

I won an ARC paranormal stack from Lovin' Me Some Romance's monthly giveaway, thank you so much! I received both Kiss At Your Own Risk and Beneath the Thirteen Moons neither of which I've heard of before and both of which look awesome. I love the covers.

For Review

If you wanted an ARC of A Courtesan's Guide to Getting You Man, you really missed out. Goodreads just gave out 100 copies of it and I was lucky enough to get one. I finally learned how to correctly pronounce courtesan too. I liked my way better though because the real way sounds too much like cortisone. Cortisone in our home is the hydrogen peroxide of any other home. Growing up it was the solution to everything. Oh, you've got a mosquito bite? Put some cortisone on it. You've got a big gaping wound from falling off the deck because there's no railing on one side? Put some cortisone on it. Um, anyway... I also got an ARC of Original Sin in the mail from the publisher. It looks like a fun read!

I'm so glad finals week is next week, oddly enough. I can't wait to actually start reading all of these fabulous books.

  1. I totally want to read Game of Thrones!

  2. @Bookish Brunette
After seeing all of the stuff for the HBO show, I'm dying to get reading it too. I can't believe I'd never read it before considering the summary sounds like a perfect read for me.

  3. I watch "Game of Thrones" too, and you're right, I'm DYING to read the book. But "The Discovery of Witches" sounds really good too, it's on my TBR List! I think "Original Sin" will be a riveting read too - everytime I read the description, it sounds like a cuter, less action-y version of the movie "The Long Kiss Goodnight" lol :P And I was the UNLUCKY one who did enter the contest for "A Courtesan's Guide to Getting Your Man" so I am really looking forward to your thoughts/review so I can decide if I want to buy it or not! :)

P.S you had me in stitches with "Oh, you've got a mosquito bite? Put some cortisone on it. You've got a big gaping wound from falling off the deck because there's no railing on one side? Put some cortisone on it." That's funny!

  4. I recently read Incarceron, and it was fabulous! I think you'll love it! :)
