Waiting on Wednesday #3

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Book: Between the Sea and Sky by Jaclyn Dolamore
Expected Publication: October 25th 2011 by Bloomsbury USA Children's Books
Summary: For as long as Esmerine can remember, she has longed to join her older sister, Dosinia, as a siren--the highest calling a mermaid can have. When Dosinia runs away to the mainland, Esmerine is sent to retrieve her. Using magic to transform her tail into legs, she makes her way unsteadily to the capital city. There she comes upon a friend she hasn't seen since childhood--a dashing young man named Alandare, who belongs to a winged race of people. As Esmerine and Alandare band together to search for Dosinia, they rekindle a friendship . . . and ignite the emotions for a love so great, it cannot be bound by sea, land, or air.

Why I'm Waiting On It: What's not to love? It's got mermaids, magic, love, and a crazy beautiful cover. The water to air aspect of it is so well done.

Book: Lord of the Vampires (Royal House of Shadows #1) by Gena Showalter
Expected Publication: August 23rd 2011 by Harlequin
Summary: Once upon a time...the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with a need for vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out.
Nicolai the Vampire is renowned for his virility, but in a cruel twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” has become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina—stripped of his precious timepiece and his memory. All that remains is a primal need for freedom, revenge—and the only woman who can help him.
When the wanton vampire summons Jane Parker, she is helpless to obey. She's drawn to his dark sexuality and into his magical realm. But for this human, all is not a fairy tale. For saving Nicolai could mean losing the only man she's ever craved..

Why I'm Waiting On It: This was another no-brainer WoW pick for me. No explanation is needed if you read the same summary that I did. I think I'm still drooling and fanning myself.

Share what you're waiting on or links to what you're waiting on in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out! I included a YA and adult pick this week because I couldn't pick just one :)

  4. I am so in love with the cover of Between Sea and Sky. I think I'd buy it just for the cover alone! But the story lives up to appearance - SO excited to read this!

While not my usual read, Lord of the Vampires definitely does sound deliciously dark and seductive!

I absolutely loved The Vampire Voss. The masquerade scene is probably one of my favorites from a PNR ever. Have you read all three books? People seem to be liking this second book better than the first but I hated (LOATHED!) Maia in the first book so I'm wary about reading The Vampire Dimitri. (I've only read the prologue so far).

    @Brodie
I completely agree about buying it for the cover alone. I'm guilty of that more often than I care to admit to...

  15. Re: The Vampire Dimitri - Maia definitely is better in her own book than in The Vampire Voss. I didn't like Maia much in Voss either.

I've read all three and my ranking go 1) Narcise, 2) Voss, 3) Dimitri, but I enjoyed all of them.

  16. LOVE both your picks! Especially Gena Showalter!! I love her! The Lords series is one of my favorites, so I hope this one's just as good. :)

  18. I like your Waiting on Wednesday graphic with the clocks!

Wow!!! Between Sea and Sky sounds so amazing. I can't tell you how psyched I am that mermaids, apparently, are the "next big thing" in YA lit. I'm so excited. I've always loved mermaids, so seeing this many mermaid books come out at once is like a dream come true.
