Waiting on Wednesday #5

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Book: Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday
Expected Publication: October 11th 2011 by HarperTeen
Summary: Hartley Grace Featherstone is having a very bad day. First she finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her with the president of the Herbert Hoover High School Chastity Club. Then he's pegged as the #1 suspect in a murder. And if that weren't enough, now he's depending on Hartley to clear his name. Seriously? Not cool. But as much as Hartley wouldn't mind seeing him squirm, she knows he's innocent, and she's the only one who can help him. Along with her best friend, Sam, and the school's resident Bad Boy, Chase, Hartley starts investigating on her own. But as the dead bodies begin to pile up, the mystery deepens, the suspects multiply, and Hartley begins to fear that she may be the killer's next victim.

Why I'm Waiting On It: I don't read much YA mystery/thriller but I thought this one sounded AWESOME. The cover is incredible too. Gemma Halliday mostly writes adult romantic mysteries, I believe, so I think this will be an interesting read.

Book: Sins of the Angels (Grigori Legacy #1) by Linda Poitevin
Expected Publication: September 27th 2011 by Ace Books
Summary: A detective with a secret lineage. An undercover Hunter with a bullet-proof soul. And a world made to pay for the sins of an angel...
Homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis answers to no one. Especially not to the new partner assigned to her in the middle of a gruesome serial killer case—a partner who is obstructive, irritatingly magnetic, and arrogant as hell.
Aramael is a Power—a hunter of the Fallen Angels. A millennium ago, he sentenced his own brother to eternal exile for crimes against humanity. Now his brother is back and wreaking murderous havoc in the mortal realm. To find him, Aramael must play second to a human police officer who wants nothing to do with him and whose very bloodline threatens both his mission and his soul.
Now, faced with a fallen angel hell-bent on triggering the apocalypse, Alex and Aramael have no choice but to join forces, because only together can they stop the end of days.

Why I'm Waiting On It: I love the cover to this one despite the girl looking like a really pretty elvish boy (that was my first thought on seeing her and it just stuck; she looks better when the cover's bigger but if you see it on goodreads, you'll agree with me). I love explosive police partnerships in TV shows and I think it will be fun to read a UF take on this. I'm digging the angel stuff right now too.

Share what you're waiting on or links to what you're waiting on in the comments and I'll be sure to check it out! I included a YA and adult pick this week because I couldn't pick just one.
